High contrast, high concept pop culture inspired poster designs

I’ve been an avid collector of alternative movie posters (AMPs) for almost a decade and I’m often inspired to sketch concepts for some of my favourite films with the intention of one day turning them into full poster designs.

These are just a few I’ve completed, mostly using stock photography and designed at 18x24 inches for single colour screen printing.

Each poster starts as a post-it note sketch, the small size helps me focus on keeping the composition bold and simple.

"You know the story about the scorpion and the frog? Your friend Nino didn't make it across the river."

The Driver, Drive

I’ve also ventured into creating posters for my favourite video games, such as Demon’s Souls, a notoriously punishing game where you can lose hours of progress with just one mistake.

I’m also exploring TV shows, starting with a recent fave of mine, Severance, inspired by the ‘innie’ and ‘outie’ relationship of the central character.

I’m even tackling movies with intimidatingly iconic posters in the hope of finding fresh angles, like a Jaws poster embracing its slasher horror roots.
